Cervical DysplasiaFrom: Amanda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Jun 1998 18:35:42 -0500 (CDT)
For the past two years now I've been battling cervical dysplasia and I'm getting really frustrated. After having two leeps done, and getting two "good" paps back after the last, it seems the problem is back again. When I had my last leep performed, the doctor told me that there was still a little left in there and was hoping it would go away on its own. I'm guessing someone screwed up at the lab for the last two paps to have come back normal because my latest pap has showed signs of low grade dysplasia. My question is, why is everyone having such a hard time removing this from my body? I have spoken to others that have had two leeps done, but three??? Both doctors who have performed this procedure on me have said they don't want to remove too much of my cervix due to my age (27). When this all started it was determined that I had severe dysplasia, and they were actually surprised I didn't have cervical cancer. I keep telling them to just cut it out already! Child bearing isn't an issue for me, due to the fact that I loathe children. Now my doctor wants to try and treat it chemically, but I've heard some bad things about that. I would perfer to have the leep done again, but as usual I get the " we want to save as much of your cervix as possible" speech. What good is my cervix going to be anyway if they keep chopping away at it every six months! Can you give me any advice on this? I'm at a loss. I just want to be done with all this.
