Cheryl, I have a suggestion, perhaps you've already thought of it, but I did this and it worked for me---sit down and write a letter to your doctor. In this letter you need to state clearly and bluntly exactly what your life has been like since your tubal ligation. Include all the ways it has affected your life, for instance if your pain becomes debilitating and prevents or inhibits you from doing normal everyday things...say so. I would have up to 3 days each month when I couldn't even stand upright because of the pain. For 6 years I told my doctors and for 6 years I was treated as though I was an overstressed mother of young children who needed to relax. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with dysplasia 2 years ago that anyone listened to me when I told them that something just wasn't right. Unfortunately all that was done was a LEEP which involved the removal of nearly 1/3 of my cervix. For the next year the pain continued and I was told to take a different kind of pain medication. At that point I was up to 6400mg of Ibuprofen daily with little or no relief. Due to an episode of hemorraging I lucked into Dr. Selednik, he was the first one who took me seriously. He took care of the hemorraging problem and had me come back 2 weeks later. I came back armed with a 3 page letter describing in blunt detail the hell I was living through, the way it was affecting my marriage and my family. He was actually in tears when he finished reading it (so was I). The insurance company needed a little more convincing. The scheduling nurse read my letter to the decision maker at the insurance company and approval for my hysterectomy was granted. I realize that some would say that a hysterectomy was drastic but, when Dr. Selednik was performing the surgery he discovered that I had some pretty major problems going on that were not being detected by the other doctors. These othere things warranted hysterectomy and most likely saved my life.

Cheryl, Along with your letter, I suggest you print out the information from the above mentioned website as it is concise and contains the sources. Make an appointment with your doctor and try to get it early in the morning before he starts running late. Give him the material and tell him what you expect from him. I also suggest that you don't give him too much at one time as it may be put aside for "later"

I've got my fingers crossed for you and I hope it works out! Take care!
