hpv or not?

Can somebody tell me is it possible to have the Hpv virus for a long time (1 or 2 years) and get diagnosed only once? For the last 2 years I have an on going problem with Abnormal Pap smears, once it's normal, then It's abnormal so I take the antibiotic, again it's normal.... And now the last one came back with hpv. My Gyn told me to have a coloscopy and a biopsy, so that we can see what it is. And she also said if it's hpv I might need to have a LEEP if I want to. Since I'm still young and want to have baby I would rather not do that, instead would repeat the pap every 6 month. My Gyn also said that hpv comes and goes so anyway it can come back. Is it the right way to deal with this probem? Any suggestions? Please write back. I'm very frustrated. Thank you very much.
