Skin DarkeningFrom: TO (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 4 Jun 1998 20:57:04 -0500 (CDT)
I am 32 years old, 5'9" tall and 127 pounds (est. 14% body fat by the caliper method). I run approximately 20-30 miles per week and although I am not a vegetarian, my diet consists of a great deal of rice and pasta (it's cheap and you can boil it). About six months ago I noticed a darkening of the skin above my upper lip which was not lightened by prescription topical medications or Esoterica. The dermatologist has no idea nor does my OB/GYN what is causing this. More distressing is that neither can fix it. Neither have done blood tests for hormone levels because I have experienced no irregularities in my period cycle. I have been off of the "Pill" for over 4 years (I was on for 11 years previously). Could you please comment on my situation and if possible, offer some advice? As you can imagine, the symtoms are embarrassing. Thank you, Theresa
