The cancer that can develop from a molar pregnancy, at one time was very vicious and often lethal. Methotrexate has a profound effect on trophoblast cells, and even if the cells have spread, the outlook generally is quite good. In most cases however, the persistent trophoblast cells, producing the persistent titers are retained in the uterus, and are not cancerous. Your oncologist is expert at dealing with this type of problem. If chemo definitely not acceptable, then surgery definitely needs to be considered ( repeat curettage, possible hysterectomy). Stay the course, and good luck!!! Dr.B >
