There are a number of possibilities that could lead to uterine enlargement, but your previously diagnosed uterine fibroid is the most likely. The uterus of a woman who has been pregnant is usually larger than that of a woman who has not. Steady enlargement of the uterus could indicate enlarging fibroids, more numerous fibroids, or adenomyosis (a form of endometriosis where the glands and stroma are within the muscular wall of the uterus). Both fibroids and adenomyosis can lead to heavy and/or irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, period pain, "PMS", feelings of pelvic pressure and so on. The pelvic ultrasound will help your doctor distinguish between some of these problems. Good Luck!
