pains/light period

i am very nervous about my current situation and would appreciate some insight:the last time i had my period it started on april 19 and lasted a few days (i am unsure of the length). for the past few weeks i have been experiencing pains in my left side approximately where my ovaries are located.the pains are sometimes shooting and sometimes dull; they do not last for extended amounts of time but have occurred over a couple of weeks. there is also a mild tenderness where my leg joins my pelvis (lymph nodes perhaps). my left side also felt somewhat swollen. i have never felt such pains before, but i have also never had pms or cramping. i thought that perhaps it was merely ovulation pain or cramps. i have been sexually active (always using a condom) and was somewhat paranoid, so i stopped having sex and took a pregnancy test (ept) as soon as possible (14 days after the last time i had had sex). the results were negative and i resumed sexual activity. the pains have continued sporadically. on may 27 i noticed some bleeding, which i assumed was the beginning of my period and the end of my concerns. generally my period begins with a fairly heavy flow, however when i went to change the tampon after a few hours it had been scarcely used. i thought that perhaps my period was starting slowly and waited for more bleeding. may 27 and 28 passed with only slight bleeding. today is may 29 and i have yet to fully start my period- i have had no bleeding today and have become very apprehensive. there are some complications, though: i am not sure exactly what my cycle is, especially since it has never been totally regualr; and i have been under large amounts of stress lately. i know that anxiety often causes abnormalities in menstruation- but so do other problems.
