Ovarian atrophy after hysterectomy

I have recently read that even if the ovaries are kept following a hysterectomy, they will atrophy in a few years due to the loss of their main blood supply through the uterine arteries. Is this correct? I had not been led to believe that I faced early menopause as a result of the procedure, yet now I am concerned about monitoring particularly my progesterone levels, given a family history of osteoporosis. I was only 33 when the procedure was done.
