pregnancy lossFrom: michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 22 May 1998 08:18:11 -0500 (CDT)
I recently suffered a fetal demise in my 21st week due to pre term labor. I had some early brownish spotting in my 12th week, but otherwise pregnancy was uneventful. Mid term, my doctor scheduled a routine full sonogram, which showed that everything was fine with both the baby and myself. If I were to have an incompetent cervix, would not I have shown signs of this at this exam. I also had a very in depth sonogram after the spotting at the 13th week, in which the same conclusion was drawn. Was the earlier spotting related to the ultimate fetal demise? And if I had an incompetent cervix wouldn't I have shown signs at the 19 week sonogram? What are the other causes of pre term labor and how long should I wait before trying again?
