midcycle mucus contains brown or blood-colored clotsFrom: Susan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 May 1998 22:14:10 -0500 (CDT)
I'm a 47-year old woman. I am having a symptom that I had thought was probably a normal symptom of menopause. Then I asked two menopausal woman who both said that had not had this symptom. I still have a regular 28-day cycle, with perhaps a lighter flow than in earlier years, but with occasional "flooding." 2-3 months ago, at the time of ovulation, I noticed that my vaginal mucus seemed to have bloody clots in it. Sometimes it was coffee-colored. This seems to have increased in the last couple of months. Last month, I had some mid-month bleeding, but my period came regularly. I couldn't find this particular symptom anywhere in the obgyn.net site. I've never been pregnant. I have no history of uterine abnormalities. Is this a normal menopause symptom or is it more likely osmething like polyps or fibroids? Thanks very much for any information!!
