What is safe these days?From: Jas (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 May 1998 14:25:12 -0500 (CDT)
Now I'm getting scared reading some of these posts. I'm going in next week to see my doctor to resolve a possible LPH defect. I've been told depending on what the biopsy outcome is.... Provera or Crinone may be prescribed. Well now I don't know what to do! It has been said here that Provera is not a good drug of choice if trying to conceive. The other day on a drug database I came across an 8 page print out warning about the dangers of using the stuff in the first 4 mos of pregnancy due to birth defects and a whole line of other reasons. A couple days ago Dr. Shanahan posted to me about alternatives to Provera and mentioned Crinone ( so I thought good a different option). Today I read Dr. Connerth's post on using Crinone and not seeing good results with serum progesterone levels. The icing on the cake that sent me into panic today is Barbara's post on natural progesterone (which Crinone is) causing breast cancer. What is one to do in order to correct a LPH defect? I know that medical science is all about taking risks and weighing the benefits but this is getting confusing. Sorry to vent my panic here but does anyone know where I can read further about natural progesterone and progesterone suppositories in general regarding breast cancer. Gee what a choice it looks like I have choose possible birth defects or breast cancer.
