I'm 40 years old, and was diagnosed with endo in 1992, after having acute devastating pain on the 2-3 day of my period for a year or so. The laparascopy showed adhesions between sigmoideum and pelvic wall and between right ovary and peritoneum. The adhesions were loosened. I also had som endo-nodules on my peritoneum. This was not treated. After the lap I only had one more attack of acute pain (1-2 years later). The last few years I've been having more and more trouble with my bowel, I go back and forth to the toilett 3-7 times in the morning for several hours. I do not have constipation, the stools are fairly normal to begin with and get looser for each time. I rarely have diarrhea. When I'm "finished" I am exhausted. This is interfering with my work, my social life etc. I get dull pain in the ovary areas by walking, driving, going up and down stairs etc. When it gets bad enough I get a sickening feeling in my abdomen and a kind of nausea. I often wake up in the night from pain in my pelvic area. I also have lower back pain. One year ago an endometrioma was detected by ultrasound ca 2,3 cm on right ovary. From Aug-Des I was treated with Synarel with no painrelief. In January -98 the endometrioma was 5,5 cm. May 7th I had a new lap, the endometrioma was small, I had adhesions sigmoideum/pelvic wall and small implants in the Pouch of Douglas ( = cul-de-sac ?). None of the endo was removed, the surgeon said it was not causing my pain. I am wondering if the surgeon did the right thing. (He said I probably had IBS). I have had X-rays colon and small intestine, and colonoscopy. All were negative and the colonoscopy was very painful. Do you agree in this surgeons decision not to treat the endo ?? Greatful for your in answer. Diane (from Norway - the land of the Vikings)
