24 weeks pregnant with kidney stone

I am 26 years old and 24 weeks pregnant. I began having trouble with a kidney stone when I was at 15 weeks. I was hospitalized based on an enlarged kidney found on a renal ultrasound and blood in the urine. Two days later the pain just disappeared with no sign of the stone. Three weeks later, the pain returned. Now at 18 weeks my urologist and OB felt ok about an xray to look for a stone. The urologist says that the stone is too large to pass, and it is in the illiac vessels. At 19 weeks, I had a double J stent placed. I had horrible pain with the stent that was as bad as the kidney stone pain, but it hurt all the time unlike the stone pain that came and went. The urologist said that the stent had blood clots that were forming in the stent and that they would pass. After almost two weeks of the stent, the pain was not better and I couldn't keep any food or liquids down. The urologist removed the stent mainly at my request, and he said that he may have to place one again if I continued to have problems. This was around the 21 week mark. Now at 24 weeks, the pain seems to be coming more often. On Saturday I thought that I was having contractions because the pain I was having now included a pressure and cramping in the lower abdomen. I was sent to triage at the hospital, but I was having no contractions and my cervix was closed and long. I returned home rather than stay at the hospital because I have been managing the kidney stone pain ok at home. I am wondering if there is any other option in pregnancy to treat the stone. I really don't want to try the stent again after my experience last time, but I am getting afraid that I won't be able to handle the pain for much longer at home.

Thanks for your help.
