Ultrasound QuestionsFrom: Lynn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 13 May 1998 17:22:39 -0000
I am scheduled to have an ultrasound tomorrow to check up on a 3cm cyst that was found two months ago. I have a few questions that I'd appreciate quick answers to. I phoned the office and the secretary wasn't sure about any of the answers. 1. My period is now 11 days late and I'm showing some signs that I may get it tomorrow. Does having your period interfere in any way with the results of a pelvic ultrasound? 2. If I do get my period, I am usually very sick and can't imagine drinking 40 ozs of water without vomiting. Low calorie punch goes down much easier, does it really have to be water? Is it vital to have the test exactly 8 weeks from the previous test? The dr. told me two months ago to have the test this week. If I have to cancel, would the timing be wrong? 3. If for some reason I don't get my period, does that matter? I would have only had one period between the first ultrasound and this one. For some reason, I thought it might matter. Does it? 4. Since I am going on 12 days late and pregnancy is not an issue, does this most likely mean my cyst hasn't gone away? Thanks very much for answers to these questions. Unfortunately, I need answers SOON!!! Lynn
