You could have a serum progesterone level drawn about 7 days post ovulation, but the biopsy is more accurate in diagnosis luteal phase defect.

High dose prover, like DepoProvera is used as a contraceptive, but lower dose oral provera is not contraceptive; however, even given that, I do not use synthetic progestins in women who are trying to get pregnant. A better choice, in my opinion, would be to use natural progesterone from the evening of ovulation on. The only draw back is that it may delay the onset of your period if you are not pregnant.

I'm afraid that provera will really mess me up, is there >another drug that is prefered if I'm trying to conceive?

see above. The new progesterone cream that is inserted vaginally (and the only form of natural progesterone that is FDA approved) is called Crinone. The 4% Crinone can be used for cycle regulation and PMS and the 8% is used for progesterone supplemnetation in pregnancy.

If you are really uncomforatable with anything, don't do it. You may want to discuss natural progesterone with your doc,and if he is reistant and you are uncomfortable, think about having a consultation with a RE.
