Chocolate CystFrom: Cathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 7 May 1998 20:40:46 -0500 (CDT)
I have been diagnosed with endo. Two years ago I had a surgical ablation which reduced my abnormal bleeding and cramping. During the last 3 months I have experienced fairly consistent abdominal and back pain. An exam revealed a slightly enlarged uterus and an ultra sound has revealed what the doctor feels are chocolate cysts on both ovaries. He has suggested 3 alternatives - 1. Less invasive surgery - drain the cysts and remove endometrial tissue (as much as possible) 2. Drug therapy (Danozol; Lupren) 3. Full hysterectomy The decision is mine at this point - I really don't want to go through the major surgery. I am willing to try the less invasive surgery, even if it means my problems will return at a later time. I don't like the drug idea. I am 47 years old and realize I could be close to menopause, but I would rather not go through the serious surgery at this point. What would you suggest??
