Most home pregnancy tests are fairly sensitive, and *should* pick up a pregnancy at the time of a missed period. However, there are a couple of things that can go wrong, including user error, and an hcg level that is just a little too low to register for that particular test. It's very unlikely that the inability of the home test to pick up an early pregnancy has any relation to miscarriage or ectopic. It's possible that when you have it checked in a week at the doctor's office it will be positive. Good luck. Please keep us posted!
