Home pregnancy test - false negativeFrom: Gwin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 7 May 1998 15:33:34 -0500 (CDT)
My period is very regular (every 27 days). I am now 3 days late and my breasts are very tender. I did a home pregnancy test on day 23 and again on day 29 and both were negative. I phoned my doctor's office today and they said to wait another week before doing anything else. I understand how the tests work - looking for hcg levels, but my question is --- if indeed I am pregnant, but the hcg level is too low to detect at 2 days passed a missed period, is it likely that this will be a "compromised" pregnancy? I had a miscarriage last Summer and I'm trying to prepare myself if this will be another disappointment. I've also read the ectopic pregnancy is a possibility.
