Ovarian cysts in a 12 year old girlFrom: Sandi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Apr 1998 11:05:42 -0500 (CDT)
The last month one of my students has had excruciating pain and was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. She apparentlb had multiple bilateral cysts on sonogram and one was "Bursting" during the Exam. and The adolescent medicine specialist who saw her said that this was normal and the pain would subside in about 7 days.It has not and even with Motrin/advil the pain continues for several hours and then she is left feeling sore and weak. Any thoughts on this condition? Should her mother take her to a GYN, would you recommend tests for LH hormone levels? How can we better manage her pain? Thank you for any advice and suggestions.
