Some really strange BBT happenings!!From: Diane (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 29 Apr 1998 12:14:10 -0500 (CDT)
I've been on a low-dose estrogen BC pill (20mcg) for about 4 months now, and for a while there was some concern weither or not I was experiencing ovulation on these pills. My doctor seemed to believe that I was probably fine anyway, but advised a "just to see" approach--to take my BBT and look for any teltale drops and rises. Well, I used to do this before on the pill, and my temps would usually range from 97.5.--.6 pre o, 96.9--97.1 on ovulation day, go up to a peak at 97.9, then fall back down to 97.3. Now, I've been taking the temps the last two months I've been on the pill, and have noticed that they not only stay on one level, they NEVER go above 97.5! They start out at 96.9 during the placebo week, then rise just a little while I'm taking the active pills, then go back down again when my pill period comes. I've read that the pill is supposed to raise these temps because of the progesterone, is this a sign that I need to change pills (i.e., not strong enough?) Or, could this pill be causing my body to develop an anaovulatory (sp?) cycle pattern, thus preventing ovulation? (I've not missed any pills for three months, btw) Just curious!! Diane
