Very painful intercourseFrom: Ann (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Apr 1998 20:04:28 -0500 (CDT)
I have a problem, that it's been going on for 11 years! 11 years ago I had a baby. The pregnancy went great, the birth was about as easy as they can be (4 hours of labor), with an eposiotomy. I wasn't concerned about the episiotomy as I had read a great deal about them (my doctor had mentioned it as a possibility as I'm quite petite in the hips), he talked to me about what to do afterwards and was very good. The episiotomy took about twice as long as he had predicted to heal, but I wasn't concerned as i really liked my doctor. Since then, I have been unable to have sex without tears of pain. The pain is particularly bad at the entrance of the vagina, towards the back. I have seen ALL the GYNs in my area, several nurse practitioners, several midwives, even a neurologist as my doctor thought that a nerve didn't grow back normally. I am experiencing severe pain during intercourse, particularly at the entrance of the vagina. Lubricants and numerous tests (from simple yeast tests to more elaborate ones) have yielded nothing. I have been researching as much as possible on my own, too as no solution has been brought to me. I am pretty good with pain, from childbirth (natural) to major dental work, but this is really too much. It feels like a blade is inserted in my vagina! I have had the same partner (husband), he has tried to be so gentle, and everything, we tried preceeding intercourse with oral sex to hopefully "loosen" my vagina, nothing has worked. At this point, I don't care if I ever enjoy sex, I just want the pain be gone! Any advice? PS: I really appreciate your volunteering at this site! This is my last hope!
