Advice needed concerning ERT.From: Karen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 7 Apr 1998 18:28:23 -0500 (CDT)
I surely would appreciate some input from the Health Care Professional at this wonderful site. 4 years ago I changed my eating habits and lost 67 pounds, and kept it off. I quit smoking 10/97, and began walking 1 mile a day plus low impact aerobics. 12/97 I had TAH/BSO. I was started on Premarin 0.9mg but increased to 1.25mg due to hot flashes, night sweats that persisted. By 4 weeks postop, I was back to walking, but increased to 2 miles a day. (Yes, 7 days a week, rain, sleet or snow!) I have gained an additional 15 pounds since my surgery, and I AM NOT HAPPY!. I have type II diabetes, mixed hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. I am 44 years old. I am controlled with Glucophage, Lipitor, and Zestoretic. I adhere to a 1200 cal ADA diet. I am currently taking Estratab 1.25mg. My breasts have enlarged a full cup size. (The good Lord was already generous.) My OB/GYN surgeon moved to another state in Feb. :< It will be at least 3 more months until a replacement for her will arrive. Since I am limited by my health insurance plan, there is no one else I can go to. I prefer a plant based Estrogen. Is there any out there that is available in a lower dose? (like 0.9mg) Or would it be safe heart wise, etc. to take Estratab .625mg, and still not have to sweat constantly? I have a wonderful family practice physician who is beginning to think that the weight gain might be due to too much Estrogen. Any insight or helpful advice would be appreciated. Sorry this is such a long post, but I am going nuts trying to research this and solve my problem. Thanks for the help, Karen
