Dear Eraina

I bled heavily after intercourse with my first pregnancy. Infact because of the on and off bleeding I was 3 months gone before I was told by a gyn that I was pregnant. Things settled down after the 1st trimester and all was well. I now have a beautiful 4 year old daughter.

Some people recommend abstaining from intercourse up to about 12 weeks, particularly if you have previously miscarried - I guess mainly for your own peace of mind rather than any proven causal link. When I got pregnant for the second time we certainly abstained given my "history". However, I miscarried anyway.

You may have read that I am now pregnant again and despite recent bleeding at 7.5 - 8 weeks (although not intercourse related) all seems to be well.

We are at the same stage in our pregnancies so my thoughts are particularly with you. Hope all is well - do keep us posted.

Best wishes Sian
