considering a second pregnancyFrom: A. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 4 Apr 1998 20:16:41 -0600 (CST)
Dear Drs., I have a six month old son, and am considering a second pregnancy. I am somewhat concerned because my first pregnancy, while producing a beautiful, healthy baby, was very stressful on my body. I developed severe swelling, and my blood platlet count dropped from approx. 180 to 70. (I am unsure if these two things are related) It was serious enough for my OB. to test for lupus and other blood disorders, thankfully none of which was a problem. In delivery I stayed in the hospital an extra day due to excessive bleeding. My question is, is it too soon to begin another pregnancy, does my body need more time to heal? Also, can I expect to see these same problems resurface in my next prenancy? Thank you in advance for your time.
