abnormal menses

I am 33years old 5'3" 115 lbs. and have had irregular periods (too frequent) since onset at 11 years. Usually my period cycle is anywhere from 15 to 25 days lasting about 7-9 days. I have no children, due to the obvious hormonal imbalance. My question is that my last 4 peiods have been 14 days apart and this last period was a 17 day cycle, I am currently on day 12 of my peiod the first 7 days where normal, but the last five days have been only spotting except during urination or during a b.m. when I pass small and large clots and a viscous blood pours out. I was on the pill from age 21-30 (at least 10 different kinds) and I really don't want to go back on them because of the side effects I experience: cramps, sore breasts, weight gain (15-20lbs), mood swings, worsening of cystic acne (which I have been on a variety of meds in the past currently taking 1000mg of tetracycline orally, Azelex and diffiren topically ea. day), peri-oral dermititis (which subsides when not on the pill), and spotting, is there anything else I could do? My T3 and T4 are normal and I have also been checked for auto-immune disease because of thinning hair (which I don't have), progesterone is also normal. Also in 12/96 I had a polyp removed from my uterus and I do not have fibroids.

I hope you can give me some advice on what can be done and sorry for being soooo long winded.

Thanks.
