Severe headaches; 7 weeks post TAH-BSOFrom: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Mar 1998 10:39:49 -0600 (CST)
Help! I am 7 weeks post TAH-BSO. I went home from the hospital on the estrogen patch and felt great the first couple of weeks. I switched to Estrace 2 mg about 4 weeks post surgery because the patches irritated my sensitive skin. Then the headaches started -- very severe and not touched by any meds (I started with Excedrin and have tried codeine, percocet, darvocet, and fioricet, all with no luck). After 2 weeks of Estrace, my doc switched me to Ortho-est 1.25 mg because I complained about the headaches. That didn't seem to make a difference; after 2 days and unrelenting pain for the previous 2 weeks, I just quit taking the estrogen altogether. Viola! the pain went away -- BUT (and there always is one, isn't there?) it came back after 3 days. Yesterday was hell; I couldn't cope at all and had to call my husband at work and ask him to come home early. The pain and/or meds makes it hard for me to think straight and I can't figure out what to do now. I have an apt with my doc next week; should I wait til then or call him now? Also, I have been on estrogen cream every other night (my vagina is not quite healed up yet), so I suppose I am absorbing some of this into my system as well. I also take Prozac and Wellbutrin in the AM and Trazadone at night and can't figure out how these meds play into this mess. Any help will be appreciated!
