Elevated prolactin levels can, by a complicated cascade of biochemical events, prevent ovulation. This may be a cause for recurrent cysts in some women due to lack of ovulation. On the other hand, they may be totally unrelated. Ovarian cysts can be easily evaluated via sonography.
