HRT after TAH/BSO

Is it necessary to take *both* estrogen and progestin after TAH/BSO? I thought that progestin was added to the therapy to keep the risk of cancer of uterus and edometrium lower - in which case is it necessary after these possible cancer sites are removed? To mention - I had my TAH/BSO due to severe endometriosis. Thanks in advance for any response...Jean
