Rhonda, ABSOLUTELY check this out. I agree strongly with Becky's reply to your question. Using diet and exercise I had my symptoms so well controlled that I forgot how bad it can get--until I changed jobs and tried to eat the cafeteria food to save time. In fact, you might even try dietary modification and see how you feel before getting involved with a gastroenterologist. (Correct me if I'm wrong, professional contributors, but my impression is there's not much doctors can do for IBS.)
