Re: pre-delivery wt gain; baby birth weightFrom: Anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 27 Mar 1998 16:21:47 -0600 (CST)
Dear Ladies and Drs., I too thought this was interesting. My BMI for my first pregnancy was 20, I am short and light framed. I weighed 7lbs 6 1/2 oz at birth and was 19 inches. With my first pregnacy I gained 19 lbs after an initial loss of 10! So I guess the gross gain was 9 pounds! Guess how much my daughter weighed when born at 38 weeks???? 8lbs 8 oz! 21 3/4 inches long! This time around I retained a little fat and my BMI is now at 22. I have lost 7 lbs and gained back 10. I am at 30 weeks now and will probably go early again... Already measuring big.... Well so much for Mother Nature conforming the babies size to the size of the mother... My husband is the guilty party...he weighed in at 8lbs 13oz and 21 1/2 inches long. He is now 6'2" and 185 Lbs. So there, go figure on that one! :) Anne N.
