Equate, the pill, and BBTs (long)

Since I'm an obsessive worrywart concerned that my pills were'nt keeping me from ovulating ( :) ), at the end of my second pack of BCP (Alesse), I decided to take an Equate HPT yesterday, the day before my "pill period" would have been due. The result was negative, and I looked closely at it afterwards, no trace of a faint line.

I've been taking my pills as scheduled this month, but my situation was remarkably similar to some other posts I've read in the archives--I ended up starting the 2nd pack a day early after an attack of food poisoning the very first week caused me to upchuck a pill. And, like the others, my MD recommended this, since I wasn't yet aware of the importance of the "borrow pack". And, yes, since I do worry, my understanding boyfriend agreed to use spermicidally lubricated condoms with me "just in case" while I continued taking my pills.

I didn't start my period today as expected, but I'm feeling some very distinct symptoms of PMS that I always have--kind of a "in a fog" feeling, and only today have I felt this. I read that taking your BBT can be an indicator, so I have been over the past few days, with a sharp drop (from 97.7-97.3) between the time I took the first sugar pill (Sat.) and the second (Sun., yesterday). I've done this in the past, and 97.3 is a signal that my period will usually start that day. Everything seems to be in order....except for bleeding!!

Does anyone have any advice?? Could my starting the pack a day early have screwed my pill's action up?

Thanks!!
