I haven't experienced them myself, but first let me tell you they are very common. It's my understanding that the warts are a symtom of the HPV virus which 50% of all people have. It's a STD, that can remain silent, with no symptoms. There are over 100 strains of the virus and depending on your immune system, the virus acts diffrent ways for different people. Warts sounds gross, true. But actually , they've come as a warning, HPV left untreated can become quite serious, so the fact that you have some warning is good. I have the HPV virus and so does my sister. She had the warts. The virus and the warts were treated with laser and a LEETZ proceedure. She no longer has them, but being that the HPV virus can re-accur, she can expect them back. You can give it to your partner, but they don't really treat men anymore. Therefore he can give it right back to you. It's not so terrible in that, that's all it can ever be. And once they're removed you may never deal with them again. It's not 100% certain that HPV causes dysplasia and cervical cancer, however all patients who have dysplasia and cervical cancer also have the virus, so you do the math! My HPV was detected when a PAP came back detecting severe dysplasia and carco insitu, which is the early stages of cervical cancer. I had not had a PAP in 4 years. So I have done alot of research on this subject, being that although I'm clean now, after a LEETZ and a radical cone biobsy, I have to decide on a hysterectomy to eliminate the chance of uterine cancer. Anyway that's me. ANd your's will probably not progress to this stage if you take care of yourself now. If you have the warts, you have the virus. Your doctor will be able to explain what's next, but get it treated. Most studies indicate that some forms of HPV left untreated will lead to dysplasia and then to cervical cancer. This is not imminent,I don't mean to scare you, just treat your HPV, read everything you can and always get your PAP smear.
