Carco in-situFrom: Adrienne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 17 Mar 1998 19:24:33 -0600 (CST)
Hello, I have recently been through the series of biopspys that revealed and curativey removed the carcinoma in-situ on my cervix. A cold knife cone was the last proceedure that has given me clear margins. I have been told (again) that I should have a hysterectomy. I am well informed, but I can't seem to get past the fact that I am now clear and that I may never have to deal with this agian. However I've been told that due to the rapid growth of the carco, if I did have to deal with it again it could be severe. I have talked to many women who've had hysterectomies, still it just doesn't seem like the right answer for me. I haven't talked to ANYONE who chose NOT to have a hysterectomy, after being advised by 2 doctors and a pathologist that this was the best course of action. But if the cone is 90% currative, it seems I have a pretty good chance of not dealing with it again. AND won't dysplasia show up on the pap that I'll be having every 4 months. Could I receive comment? And is there a recourse of women who have chosen NOT to have the hysterectomy? Thank you for your time.
