Reply: Laurie Lovely, M.D.: "Re: Nasacort and Breastfeeding?" My Nasacort inhaler (triamcinolone acetonide) is my lifesaver during allergy season (starting early this year, thanks to El Nino). I was even allowed to use it during pregnancy: my OB told me it was a Class B drug (or something similar). However, I'm uncertain whether it's safe to use while breastfeeding. I'd love to assume yes, since I *could* use it during pregnancy, but I don't know whether it's excreted in significant amounts in breastmilk, and if so, what affects it could have on my daughter? If I have to choose between nursing her, and having my corticosteroid fix, of course she'll get her dinner - but I'd much prefer reassurance that I don't have to choose? Opinions? Information? Crushing disappointment?
