About 6 years ago I began having alot of pressure in pelvic region and heavy periods...my Dr. found fibroids and cysts after ultrasound exam. I took Provera for 10 days a month for 1 year. This made the periods lighter but pressure continued, at that time my pap smear showed , what my Dr. called a pre-cancerous condition. I had "Criosurgery" in his office to remove the outer layer of the cervix which was affected. I had pap's every 6 months and had 2 more of these procedures in 3 years...then he did biopsies externally and within the cervix. This showed severe dysplasia and I had a D&C and a conization of the cervix, this was in Oct. 96'. I was fine until Jan. 97' . Then I'd begin to very lightly bleed the first day of my period, the second day I would stop bleeding and have extreme pain and cramping which lasted for a few hours with relief coming with "gushing" of large amount of blood...this went on for two months...my Dr. placed me on Darvon pain medication but it really had little relief, but to take the "edge" off the pain. In March of 97' he had me come into the office during this painful time and manually opened my cervix, he said it was closed and that was my problem and this would remedy it...I was okay until May 97' when it began again. My Dr. said the only thing he could do was to place me on a drug to "trick" my body into going into a" menipause state", he said the alternative was hysterectomy which would be difficult because I have a very enlarged uterus. I chose to get a second oppinion... this Dr. told me my cervix needed to have another conization and this would help me...So I switched to his care and had another D&C, conization and lazer surgery of the cervix in July 97'...I was great until Nov.97' and it began again, the severe pain and cramping for hours but now the gushing has become less and I bleed for 10 days followed by spotting throughout the month. I'm very tired and anemic. This Dr. has put me back on Provera for 10 days a month and Darvon during my period...he did manually open my cervix in Jan. 98' and I had normal bleeding without pain that month but my period in Feb. was back to the extreme pain again, gushing and the period lasted for 10 days and I've been spotting since. I did take the Provera in Feb. What could my problem be?? I don't want to live like this until it's time for menapause! I just turned 43, I was hoping this was a sign of menapause but my Dr. says it isn't... Could you give me any sugestions as to why I've been having these problems since the conizations and is there any treatments??
