According to Lilly studies (the company that produces Evista) the baseline hot flushes rate is 18% and with Evista is increases 6-8 %.

According to Lilly, this should not be related since this Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator should have no effect onthe breast. Then again, I can't give you another reason for your symptoms.

Shingles is herpes zoster (chickenpox) being reactivated from the ganglia of nerve roots where they lie dormant for many years. Thisis an immunity thing and I've seen no information implicating Evista in this one. I agree with your doctor.

Discuss tryiing the medication again if the advantages outweigh the disavantages for you. BTW, Lilly says the hot flushes reach baseline level in a few months.
