About a month ago, I noticed that even after I finished urinating, I still had a great urge to go (with little or no urine produced). I experienced no back pain, no burning sensation. After no results from antibiotics (it was initially thought I might have a UTI) I was referred to a urologist who has put me on Prosed DS. (I will see him again next week). This is helping, but certainly has not eradicated the problem. The next step is cytoscopy and x-rays. I have been told that there are a number of possibilties that are causing the problem from a narrow urethra to interstitial cystitis, the latter of which seems to be the most likely (not having yet taken the next step.) I have been reading up on interstitial cystitis and I find that that most common symptoms are pain in the bladder and/or urethra or a burning in the urethra. Given that I do not have either of these symptoms, is it possible to have intersitial cystitis with the only symptom being urgency to urinate? Also, I have learned that changes in diet may help relieve pain for some patients with interstitial cystitis. I have been suprised though because most of the "trigger foods" are not a hefty part of my diet anyway. (For example, I don't drink coffee or wine, I rarely eat aged cheese, and I usually stay away from citrus). What does this mean then? Thanks in advance for your response.
