Vitamin B6 is water soluable, so in general, any amount that you don't use your body excretes, and does not build up toxic levels. I know of no evidence to suggest this would be harmful in any way to your fetus, nor of any antecdotal information to support the same. I do not believe an ultrasound would provide any information relevant to B6, however, it is common to have an anatomy survey at around 18-20 weeks, to be sure everything looks OK. Early in pregnancy the baby is not well developed enough to evaluate for any "birth defects" by ultrasound. Ingrid Gold, CNM
