Fibroids that undergo degeneration (lose blood supply and some cells die) can cause pain in the area of the fibroid.

If the fibroids go up to the umbilicus, then it's possible to have pain in that region from them.

Very common.

Not once they're removed. I think you mean that new ones may grow and that's true.

That's a medical decision that we can't make. Severe pain and anemia from heavy periods make it more emergent, however. Not having enough info, I'd suggest that you look into all reasonable possibilities with the attendant risks, benefits and alternatives. A hysterectomy may be right for you but we don't enough information to make that determination. If you require more unbiased information, a second opinion may be helpful.
