a comment about the BBTsFrom: chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 24 Feb 1998 10:34:09 -0600 (CST)
This isn't a question, just a comment or observation about BBT. I don't even know if women are still doing this routinely, but I'd like to share my experience from 20 years ago. I read an answer on an earlier post about continuing to take the BBTafter attempting to conceive. If it falls after 12 days, expect period to start. I would like to point out that my BBT did indeed fall to pre-ovulatory levels 12-14 days after a normal rise at ovulation. Anyone taking her BBT knows the disappointed feeling seeing this drop brings. Well, I decided to keep taking my temp. You can imagine the surprise I got when after a day or two (no period) at the low level the thermometer registered a sharp rise back to the elevated level and then remained there. Did a pregnancy test about 10 days later (this was before the days of super sensitive tests) which was positive. The drop in temp was a gradual one over the last few days of the post ovulatory phase, so I'm sure it was not a case of an innacurate reading. I was well practiced! Just one of those little surprises I guess. I can still remember the thrill.
