Diflucan and Birth Control PillsFrom: kate (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 22 Feb 1998 15:02:43 -0600 (CST)
Hi there. Thank you Dr. Marchbein for answering my questions about my unicornate uterus. I have a couple more questions. I started on Ortho-Tricyclen two months ago and developed a yeast infection each month after not having one for almost two years. My doctor has now switched me to Alesse to see if I will have fewer side effects. I will start taking the Alesse pill when my next period starts. I took Diflucan for the first time at the end of my cycle (just before my period) last month which cleared up my yeast infection. I have since stopped taking my second pack of Ortho-Tricyclen pills half-way through the pack (I didn't want another yeast infection!). I took the last pill (pill # 12 in the pack) on Tues. Feb.17 and have not started my period yet. I was just recently informed that Diflucan can interfere with the effectiveness of the pill. I did not know this and I had sex four days after my last period. Should I do a pregnancy test now or wait another week to see if I get my period? What are the chances of getting pregnant after taking the Diflucan at the end of my last cycle? Thank you. Kate
