Chronic Pelvic PainFrom: Trish (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 19 Feb 1998 20:31:05 -0600 (CST)
I have been suffering from increasing pelvic pain since September 1997. It originated in the right side (just to the left of my hip bone) as a sharp, "stabbing" pain and has increased in intensity and area since then. It now is located across my entire lower abdominal area as well as through my lower back. At times, there appears to be a small "knot" in the area of the pain. I had a pelviscopy on Feb 6, 1998 and was told that my uterus is red and inflamed and a small cyst on my left ovary was also drained at that time. Since then, the pain has actually worsened although I have been through 2 courses of antibiotic treatment with Floxin (one before and one after the surgery.) My GYN is now recommending a complete hysterectomy because the pain is so debilitating as to cause me to be unable to work. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I previously had a tubal ligation and, therefore, am unable to have anymore children, but I do not want to undergo a hysterectomy unless it is absolutely necessary. Thank you, Trish
