The skin on the outside of the vagina where the hair grows is called the vulva and it should be normal skin coloring. In some it may be slightly darker. The color of the vagina in women of menstrual age is the same color as the inside of your mouth (same kind of tissue). With menopause and decrease in hormones, the color becomes somewhat blanched in appearance. With ERT or vaginal estrogen, the normal color is usually maintained. If there is a cyst that you don't recognize as being a long term inhabitant of the area, get it checked out.
