abcesses in groin areaFrom: Angie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 15 Feb 1998 14:20:58 -0600 (CST)
I am a 35 year old female with a history of very good health. Since the time that I was 18 or 19 I have had abcesses that form in my groin area - where my leg meets the pubic area and on the inside of my buttocks. They swell up and become painful and then get purplish in color. They seem hard around the edges and soft in the center. They will eventually bust and a combination of blood and pus comes out. Sometimes the interior tissue hangs out. They stay open for several days before closing. I have had them cultured and staph and strep were found. A doctor even cored them out surgically and they just came back in different areas. I have also been on many cycles of antibiotics over the years with no help. One ob/gyn changed my birth control pills but they then gave me migraines so i had to go back to the lower dosage. What are these? Is there anything to make them go away permanently? My groing area is often painful and definitely doesnt look very good! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Angie
