Gestational Diabetes and Inducing earlyFrom: Alisha (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 13 Feb 1998 21:53:54 -0600 (CST)
I am at my 36th week of pregnancy. I have gestational diabetes with this pregnancy and also with my last pregnancy. I had a dr. appointment last week and my dr. informed me that she would like to strip my membrane at the 38th week. Then she said if I didn't go into labor by the 39th week she would induce. Is it necessary to induce me before nature takes its course? I went to the due date and was not induced with my last pregnancy. I have kept my blood sugar levels low and even. (70-80 in the morning and under 120 after meals) I have not gained extra weight. My uterus measurement is 34cm. And what is stripping the membrane? Is the dr. talking about breaking my "bag of water"? Surely not if the dr. is willing to let me go to the 39th week.
