A) What causes Tatanic (spelling) contractions B) follow-up questionFrom: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 6 Feb 1998 14:18:55 -0600 (CST)
During my pregnancy last winter I was having what the doctor said was Tatanic contractions...where the uterus is in danger of rupturing. What exactly causes these? Could it be caused by Uterine Didlephys? Will it likely happen again? Does it cause the uterus to become weaker? I know I should have asked all of these questions at the time, but I had so much going on in my pregnancy that I didn't want to know any more bad news. And also, I had a question on Uterine Didlephys answered by Ms. Lovely and I had just a quick follow up question, she wrote 'I have personally helped care for two woment through three prgnancies who have had nis anatomic situation. All three were uncomplicated. While Preterm labor is a recognized risk of your condition, the risk appears to get lower with each subsequent pregnancy (kind of a "stretching out the uterus" effect.)' Now, would it not be true in saying that my right uterus is the only uterus that has been "stretched out" being that was the side I carried my son. So where as if I was to get pregnant in the left side, problems MAY be the same, if not worse? That's it. Thanks again. I really do enjoy this forum.
