Acid reflux and the PillFrom: cyberT (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 3 Feb 1998 15:19:09 -0600 (CST)
last night, 30 minutes after taking the pill (Alesse), I had some stomach acid come up--it was clear, and BURNED on the way up my throat and nose (I was lying down). No actual what I would call vomit came up with it. It is important to mention that this was only my 2nd pill ever. Concerned how this would effect my pill's effectiveness, I called the doctor, who told me to take 2 just as if I had vomited. I usually take my pill at 9:00 p.m., but couldn't get the doctor's advice until 11:00 a.m. the next morning,at which time I immediately took another pill, and am planning on taking another at 9 pm., as usual. My questions are this: going by how I took one at 9, acid came up at about 9:30, and took another the next morning, with the one later tonight (whew!), how will this affect the effectiveness of the pill? Will it be ineffective for the rest of my cycle, or just for the standard 7 days? My boyfriend and I are wusses about this, and plan to use condoms with the pill as our BC combo method. When, because of this incident, will it be safe to do so?
