Presuming no history of cervical abnormalities (pap or otherwise), the cervix can be left in with an informed consent of the consequences of this action. The cervix has ligamentous support which helps support the vagina too. This is a great advantage for the future. It may have some advantage in orgasms although proof is still pending (although not for some WHF members). The cervix can actually be cored out to leave the ligamentous support and remove the endocervix. Ask your doctor about these possibilities. I discuss this with my patients and then make a joint decision based upon the pros and cons.
