Marchbein, M.D.: "Re: Ovulatory pain" I'd like to know if it is possible (normal) to have abdominal discomfort from about the time of ovulation and continuing for about a week or so. Around the time that I ovulate, I start to get a very bloated feeling in my abdomen and the middle of my back aches as well. I have heard of mittelschmerz, but I was under the impression that this was a short-lived, sharp pain, which is not what I am experiencing. This has been happening for six months or so. So far, two pelvic exams and two pap tests have come back normal. A pelvic ultrasound as well as a T-V ultrasound showed nothing irregular. Is what I am experiencing normal or should I pursue it? Any ideas on what this could be or on what should be done next? Thanks in advance.
