He recommended I douche with water

Douching ONCE to increase the acidity is ok. Other ways to increase
acidity are too drink cranberry juice (the yuckky organic, unsweetened
kind) or to take cranberry capsules or extract. Acidophilus
(lactobacillus acidophilus) supplements may also help repopulate your
system with this beneficial bacteria. Yogurt with active cultures is
another way of getting the acidophilus.
